Students Vote On Name For New Union Mascot

Update: A selection has been made and High School students are auditioning to perform as the new mascot. No spoilers but expect a fun announcement in the new year! Go Redhawks!
Over the last 18-24 months, Union Public Schools has had many requests to develop a costumed version of our mascot, the Union Redhawk.
"After much deliberation and behind-the-scenes development, we have come up with a look for that new costumed mascot, which will be revealed in spring 2025," Chief Communications Officer Chris Payne said. "In preparation for the mascot’s arrival and unveiling, we solicited names from Union High School students and have come up with a slate of the top five names."
The names are:
- Riot
- Ruckus
- Rocket
- Rascal
- Rally
The High School wants all students to have a stake in naming the new mascot, so they are asking Union Public Schools to conduct a districtwide vote among all students.
Union plans to send ballots to elementary school sites, while students in grades 6-12 will vote via Canvas this week.
